I recently conquered a solo road trip from Colorado Springs, CO to Nissan Ft. Worth, TX. It was an incredible boring and long drive, especially through the Texas panhandle. My lower back started hurting around hour seven and then my backside started going numb a couple hours later.

I recently learned from Wired.com that Nissan has been in the works with NASA to create ‘fatigue-free seats.’ These seats are based on research identifying a ‘neutral posture’ similar to how the body relaxes when in a weightless environment, noted Wired. The seats are designed to distribute the drivers’ weight equally so discomfort and stress are kept to a minimal. The curved back seats are designed to support each muscle and spinal section with as little weight as possible. According to Nissan Parts Texas the seats will also improve circulation and reduce fatigue by close to 30% compared to the standard seat design.

These new front bucket seats are available on the 2013 Nissan Altima Texas. They are standard as cloth seats however leather upholstery and heated front seats are both optional features. Overall automotive critiques were big fans of the newly designed seats saying that they were incredible comfortable and supportive, according to US News. The redesigned Altima boasts a large cabin comfortable seating six foot passengers in the back as well as the front. The interior also received an upgraded quality material and boasts a large trunk for the segment class. The Nissan Altima’s handing and performance has always been a stand out in this usually uninspiring class and this year is no different especially with its peppy optional V6 engine. The Altima comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. While the 3.5-liter V6 is good for 270 hp and 251 pd-ft of torque. Both come standard with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Since the new Nissan Altima Texas has these redesigned seats it makes sense that Consumer Reports listed it as one of the top three family sedans to take a road trip in. I wish I had been privy to this before my recent trek across the country. Nissan Parts Texas says that the Altima received this rating due not to its comfortable seats but because of its affordable price and great fuel economy.

A friend of mine recently moved to Tucson, AZ after spending the first thirty years of her life in the Southeast. I don’t think she’d ever even been to the desert before, but she got a job offer and was looking for a change, so off she went. Initially, as with any big move, she was homesick and sad. After a few weeks, however, she settled in and found some friends. She enjoys her job and seems incredibly happy to be where she is.

I’m thinking of taking a trip out to visit her this summer, just to see how she’s doing and visit. I think part of my visit will be a tour of Phoenix, as I’ve always wondered about that city and haven’t yet had the opportunity to visit. I understand that Phoenix, AZ is only a couple of hours from Tucson by car, so it could be a fun day trip. And since my friend has a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder, so the trip will also be comfortable.

Let’s face it – most of us with older vehicles are suffering from poor gas mileage and with a struggling economy, a majority of us can’t just run out and buy the latest and greatest fuel efficient vehicle. In reality, turning on a vehicle only takes a few seconds worth of fuel. Of course, excessively turning a vehicle on and off can slowly start to damage your starter, but the Florida Nissan Dealers says that the impact your doing to the environment (and your wallet) is much more costly.

(5.) Keep Tires Inflated Properly
