These packages, though, are not yet available in the base 2.5 model. Similarly, features like leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, power moonroof and xenon headlights were standard or optional on all but the base 2.5 sedan. The 2012 Nissan Altima Sedan models come in three different styles: 2.5 and 2.5 S, and both are powered by a 175-horsepower, 2.5L 4-cylinder engine; the 3.5 SR, which gets a 270-hp, features a 3.5L V6. Both engines come with a continuously variable automatic transmission, but coupes can be purchased with a choice of the CVT or a 6-speed manual gearbox. Both models are available with an Xtronic variable automatic transmission, while the coupe offers a standard 6 speed manual. Fuel mileage comes in an EPA estimated range of 18 mpg city to 32 mpg highway, depending on engine and transmission model.
The Altima Hybrid is powered by a 2.5l 4 cylinder hybrid engine that produces 198 hp. The FWD hybrid vehicle comes standard with Xtronic variable automatic transmission and gets an EPA estimated 33 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.
The headlight and taillight clusters are exotic. The halogen headlamps are unique, vertical and square-like with soft edges, boasting four bulbs inside for the high beam, low beam, turn signal along-with parking lights. This means their coverage area is very wide. As for the taillights, Nissan says they cost nearly as much as the headlamps, so don’t back into anything.
